Randy holds a Bachelors of Music Education (BME) degree from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. While there, he studied Classical and Jazz music and played in many and varied ensembles. He also rehearsed and directed various UW-EC vocal and instrumental ensembles including Jazz 4.
Randy has been a featured trombone soloist and held lead positions with the UW-EC Jazz Ensemble 1, Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra 1, In the Mood Big Band, Musica Elegante, WAMI nominated Jeff LaBarge Swing Explosion, and 5-Time WAMI Award Winning Swing Nouveau. Randy has also performed with and/or recorded with BtW Classic Rock Band, Skeleton Crew Trombone Quartet, The Lennon Sisters, The Grilley Bros. at the Jazz Showcase in Chicago, Grammy Award Winning Woody Herman, 10,000 Maniacs, Anderson Paak, Bobby Rydell, and Tony Orlando. He has also performed with the Chicago-based Dan Hayes Orchestra and WAMI Award Winning Cold Sweat/Brew City Horns and The Docksiders. Randy has also performed with Sterling and Brass Quintet, Big Top Brass, Nick Contorno Jazz Quintet and Big Band, The All-Star SUPERband, The Mr. Lucky Syndicate, The Shorewood Players, Hartford Players, The Waukesha Civic Theater, Sunset Playhouse and Arrowhead’s Broadway Company. Randy provided trombone tracks for soundtracks that can be heard on major TV network series and cable programs including the Summer 2016 Olympics. Randy also has experience as director, conductor, contest adjudicator, clinician and composer/arranger for various vocal and instrumental organizations. Randy served for 21 years as the orchestra and instrumental conductor/director at Spring Creek Church in Pewaukee and he served as Band Director at CELA Academy in Pewaukee, WI (2017-2021) Randy served as interim director of The 3:00 Jazz at Arrowhead H.S. (2021-2022). He maintains an active private teaching studio at The Waukesha County Conservatory of Music in Hartland Wisconsin.
Randy continues to pursue excellence in all styles of music while educating and inspiring others to do the same.
