Jaime Nyland has been teaching private voice lessons since graduating in 2007 from Drake University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and a Minor in Business. She studied Classical, Musical Theater as well as Choral music while at Drake. She has also had Estill voice training.
Her professional background varies from interning with the Aldeburgh Music Festival in Saxmundham, England for two consecutive summers, organizing Battle of the Bands concerts with Supernova Entertainment Company at The Rave, teaching voice privately at various music schools in south eastern Wisconsin, adjudicating at several area music festivals as well as having experience in music therapy activities for Alzheimer and Dementia patients. Within her first year of teaching private voice lessons, she was honored with the “Most Inspirational Teacher Award” from Allegro Academy of Music in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She sang for three seasons with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Chorus as part of their professional core group. She also leads the Cross Lutheran Church Choir in Ixonia, Wisconsin. Most recently, she’s been seen featured in productions of The Addams Family, Bonnie and Clyde, A Christmas Carol, as well as many other Musical Theater productions in the area.
Her students have earned highest marks at area festivals and competitions including at the Lake Country K-8 Solo and Ensemble Auditions, Wisconsin Federation of Music Clubs Auditions, WSMA Solo and Ensemble events as well as local talent competitions. Her students’ success is also found on stage through productions with First Stage, in other area community theatres, as well as national pageants.
She enjoys working with a diverse group of students that have interest in a variety of genres of music. Her goal as a teacher is to help each student develop healthy, natural singing habits as well as skills and knowledge to become an independent and well-rounded life-long musician.
