Eric C. Larsen is a Milwaukee-based performer and educator. He is the bass trombonist of the Wisconsin Philharmonic in Waukesha, WI, and the Fox Valley Symphony in Appleton, WI. Mr. Larsen has performed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Skylight Music Theater, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Milwaukee Ballet, Broadway Across America, Woodstock Mozart Festival, Noel Gallagher, John Tesh, Dennis DeYoung, Doc Severinsen, Patti LuPone, Cory Chisel, Mr. Lucky Syndicate, Aaron Caruso, Russo Bros., All-Star Superband, and many other groups encompassing all musical styles.
Since 2004, Mr. Larsen has been a member of the popular Swing Nouveau Big Band, a five-time recipient of the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) award for best Swing/Big Band group. He has performed commercial and studio work for a wide range of local and national radio, television, and film projects. Larsen also performs regularly in liturgical settings throughout the greater Milwaukee area.
As an educator, Mr. Larsen has over 20 years of experience teaching students of all ages and ability levels on trombone, bass trombone, baritone, euphonium, and tuba. Lessons are individually tailored to the unique needs and goals of each student, with an emphasis on fundamentals and musicality. Teaching locations include the Waukesha County Conservatory of Music (Hartland), Melk Music (Muskego), and the Wisconsin Academy of Music (Germantown).
Mr. Larsen attended graduate school at the Mannes College of Music in New York, NY, and received a Bachelor of Music in Performance, cum laude, from the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in Appleton, WI. He has also spent two summers as a participant at the Aspen Music Festival in Aspen, CO. Mr. Larsen’s teachers include David Finlayson of the New York Philharmonic, John D. Rojak of the American Brass Quintet, and Nick Keelan of Lawrence University.
